We are delighted to present Smoking is Bad for You one of Anton Chekhov's finest shorts.

Chekhov is best known for penning theatrical triumphs such as The Cherry Orchard, Uncle Vanya and The Seagull.

Director Elizabeth Newman graduated from the Rose Bruford Directing BA (Hons) in 2007. She is the Octagon Theatre’s Trainee Director on the ITV Theatre Directors Scheme.

She was Assistant Director on Mixed Up North, All My Sons, Ghosts and The Enemies Within. Her first production for the Octagon was Caryl Churchill’s Seven Jewish Children.
