'In the
pantomime season, the Octagon remains one of the few theatres
in the area providing a refreshing, alternative form of entertainment...
a real family treat'
Manchester Evening News
When young James Henry Trotter is
orphaned as a result of a freak rampaging rhinoceros incident,
his miserable, mangy aunts Spiker and Sponge take him in - and
make his life a misery. One day, a mysterious old man offers
James a bag of crocodile tongues, which he accidentally drops
next to an old peach tree.
Overnight, a magnificent
and gigantic peach grows, and its oversized inhabitants - Centipede,
Earthworm, Grasshopper, Ladybird and Spider - befriend James and
bring happiness and excitement to his life again. James
and his newfound chums set off on a fantastical adventure that
takes the Giant Peach from the bottom of the garden across the
Atlantic Ocean, to the 'Big Apple' itself - New York!
'James Henry Trotter,
who once, if you remember, had been the saddest and loneliest
little boy that you could find, now had all the friends and playmates
in the world'
James And The Giant Peach
This was another Roald
Dahl favourite transformed onto the stage in a compelling tale
of fun, wonder and magic!
