Teachers Toolkit

Through consultation with members of T.A.P, we have created a range of INSET resources to increase the confidence and skills of primary school teachers in their use of drama. The Teachers Toolkit can be accessed at three levels depending on available funding.

Level one is free and consists of one and a half hour drama sessions held at the end of each term. The sessions will allow teachers to try out a variety of games, exercises and drama techniques to take back to the classroom. The next session will be held:

To book a place on these free sessions please contact activ8 on 01204 556501.

Level two consists of tailor made INSET sessions looking at ways to enable teachers to infuse their own subject areas with drama and role play. The workshops are delivered directly to teachers and can be held in school or at The Octagon Theatre.

Level three combines artist residency with INSET sessions. Working with pupils within the school, level three begins with teacher observation and leads to direct facilitation within the project.

Spark

Spark is Provident Financial's flagship education programme taking place across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Working together with the West Yorkshire Playhouse, the aim of Spark is to link theatres with schools in their local areas and encourage children to succeed through stimulating arts activities.

The project is working with six local schools, focusing on areas where there is traditionally little access to the arts. Freelance artists are employed to work with four key stage two classes from each school, enabling the children to take part in visual and performing arts.

The project is funded for three years and will culminate each year in a celebration event to showcase the student's work.

If your school would be interested in taking part in the Spark project please contact Alexa Driscoll on 01204 556501.
