Volunteer Scheme
Due to an increased programme of activities
within the department, activ8, the participatory department
of the Octagon Theatre, have set up a volunteer scheme.
We have a select group of Voluntary Project Assistants
to assist us with the youth theatre and education and
community arts projects throughout the local area. No
experience is necessary, you just need to be over 18,
enthusiastic and have an interest in theatre.
Becoming a volunteer for activ8 is ideal for people
who are wishing to pursue a career in drama workshop
leading, working in the community or working with young
people. It is also a great opportunity for people who
have a love of theatre and drama and want to get more
actively involved.
The roles for activ8 Volunteer Project Assistants:
- Supporting the workshop leaders with activities
such as encouraging young people to take part
- Leading warm up sessions (optional)
- Supporting young people on a one to one basis
- Being responsible for supervision where necessary,
to enable workshop leaders to take lunch breaks
etc
- Supporting the team with administrative tasks
You will benefit by:
- Gaining invaluable experience working alongside
professional directors and workshop leaders
- Working creatively with young people and community
groups
- Getting to see Octagon productions for just £3
- Simply having fun!
Full training and support will be provided, we only
ask that Volunteer Project Assistants can commit for
a minimum of 6 months and they will consent to an enhanced
CRB check. Please note that a commitment to equal opportunities
is essential.
