Vicky Binns Joins Alfie Cast
2 Dec 2011
The Octagon Theatre Bolton celebrates the work of Bolton’s greatest ever playwright, Bill Naughton, with the 1960’s classic: Alfie.
Taking on the role of Alfie’s young and naïve girlfriend Annie will be Vicky Binns. Unlike the vulnerable character of Annie, Vicky is most well known for her role playing the strong-willed Molly Dobbs in ITV’s Coronation Street. Molly’s affair with married father Kevin Webster, and eventual death in the dramatic tram crash episode in 2010, rocked the Street and ensured her place in Coronation Street history.
Vicky last appeared at the Octagon Theatre in the 24:7 Theatre Festival production Dave & Jeff Versus the Crazy Corpse Loving Consultant From Cardiothoracics in 2008. Vicky commented on her role in Alfie: “I’m thrilled to be involved in this production; it’s great to be back at the Octagon Theatre and to be working with director David Thacker for the first time. I hope that the people of Bolton and the North West come along to see the production and share in the celebration of this great local work.”
Vicky Binns has made numerous TV appearances in favourites such as Emmerdale, Children’s Ward and Casualty. She has also appeared on stage in Teechers and Perfect Pitch for Hull Truck Theatre company and The Ushers for Rain Dog theatre company.
Alfie is at the Octagon from Thursday 19 January – 18 February 2012. Tickets are from £9.50 on 01204 520661 or at www.octagonbolton.co.uk
