The Octagon Theatre is situated in the heart of Bolton town centre, within
easy reach of all the main train, bus and road routes, and just 5 minutes
walk from the train and bus stations.

By Car
From Manchester and the south: Exit the M61 onto the
A666 (Bolton). Take the ‘Bolton South and Bury’ exit and at
the top of the slip road turn left towards Bolton. At the traffic lights,
opposite Focus, turn right and go straight through the next set of lights.
At the traffic lights by the Balmoral Pub turn left onto Great Moor Street.
Follow the signs for the Octagon APCOA car park.
From Preston and the north: Follow the M61 south and
exit at junction 5. Leaving the motorway turn left and follow the road
to Bolton until you reach the junction opposite Mecca Bingo. At this junction,
follow the road to the left and turn right at the next set of lights.
At the first ‘T’ junction turn right. The Octagon APCOA car
park is the next turning on your left.

The Octagon APCOA multi-storey car park is situated adjacent to the theatre.
Public Parking is available Monday to Saturday in this
covered, patrolled and secure car park and costs are as follows:
- £1.20 for the 1st hour
- £2.20 for two 2 hours
- 50p for every addtional hour
SPECIAL £2 RATE:
£2 per evening after 5pm for Octagon patrons. To qualify for this
specialy rate, please bring your parking chip coin to the Octagon bar
or Ticket Office for validation when you attend an evening performance.
Pass the coin chip through APCOA's payment macine to complete the process
before returning to your car.
Please note: the car park closes early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s
Eve and is closed on Boxing Day.
Blue Badge holders – designated parking is available
in a bay directly opposite the entrance to the Octagon.
There are a number of other Car Parks in the immediate vicinity of the
Octagon:
- The Octagon Surface Car Park (also managed by APCOA) provides around
100 parking spaces, charging 60p from 6pm until midnight and £1.00 from
6pm until 8am the following day. It is located just off Great Moor Street,
opposite the multi-story car park and less than a minute’s walk from
the theatre.
- Bolton Council also provides free on-street parking after 6.00pm,
and there are various bays located around Le Mans Crescent and the surrounding
area.

By Public Transport
Bolton is easily accessible by train, with only a 20-minute train ride
from Manchester (all stations) and 25 minutes from Preston. Buses also
run regularly from Manchester and the surrounding areas. The Octagon is
a five-minute walk from Bolton’s rail and bus stations. For
